SALLY WEBB AMONG TRIANGLE’S 2022 WOMEN IN BUSINESS HONOREES

The Special Event Company Continues to Innovate with State-of-the-Art Broadcast Studio Services

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 29, 2022) – The Triangle Business Journal recently recognized Sally Webb, founder and CEO of The Special Event Company in the Raleigh suburb of Apex, N.C., as one of 28 honorees in its 2022 Women in Business Awards. For 25 years, the annual program has saluted women in North Carolina’s Research Triangle area who are exceptional leaders known for their accomplishments in business and community service.

“The Research Triangle region is home to some of the most brilliant women in their respective fields, so I’m extremely honored to be in the company of this year’s Women in Business award recipients,” said Webb. “I dedicate this to my incredible team who have provided our clients with such a high level of creativity, commitment and focus as we navigated through the pandemic.”

Webb is nationally recognized as a pioneering entrepreneur and business operator. She is a past winner of Special Event magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award and Top 25 Greatest Industry Influencer, as well as International Event Producer of the Year (Event Solutions), Enterprising Woman of the Year (Enterprising Woman), Top 50 Women Extraordinaire (Business Leader), and the Steve Kemble Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to the special event industry.

Webb earned similar accolades in her native United Kingdom, where she is a founding member and former president of the U.K. Chapter of the International Live Events Association (ILEA).

Since founding the Special Event Company 35 years ago, Webb guided the company’s growth as it became one of the most successful and creative event management firms in the U.S., working with world-class clients including Duke University, Lenovo, the NHL, YouTube, Google, Boy Scouts of America, First Citizens Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Amgen, and many others.

In 2020 and 2021, as the event industry faced potentially devastating challenges due to COVID shutdowns, Webb directed the development of a virtual event production facility featuring a state-of-the-art studio for live video and content production. The offering has further solidified The Special Event Company as a multi-faceted, full-service provider of live, in-person and virtual event services, as well as customized communications solutions for a wide range of clients.

Following the success of the new production facility after opening in April of 2021, Webb relocated the Special Event Company’s corporate operations from its former address in Raleigh to the studio location in nearby Apex.
