Partner Event: UK – North Carolina Offshore Wind Webinar: Challenges and opportunities for ports and SMEs

The North Carolina Department of Commerce is running a webinar event with UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade on the 13^th July at 0930 EST looking at the challenges and opportunities for offshore wind.

Background

Offshore wind is an emerging sector globally with huge potential to accelerate our net zero transitions and bring economic growth. We are working with the UK, one of the world leaders in offshore wind with c.14 GW of installed capacity to date and an ambition to deploy up to 50 GW of offshore wind by 2030, to explore the opportunities and challenges for ports and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in offshore wind.

The webinar

This 3 hour webinar will focus on two important areas – ports and SMEs. For each area there will be an overview, as well as a panel session where it will be possible to ask questions to the UK businesses with experience and expertise in these areas. It is an opportunity for businesses to gain insights and potentially to share perspectives on a fast-growing sector.

Session 1: Arup will provide the context for the ports and there will be contributions from a number of port operators (Associated British Ports, Global Energy Group and the Port of Tyne).

Session 2:  Xodus will provide the context for SMEs working in offshore wind and will have contributions from a number of businesses and organisations (FMS, HR Wallingford, OWGP).
